Construction is well underway in the Hangar Paddock for MMC’s new, 17,600 square foot Service Center. The 12-bay service center will feature low-profile vehicle lifts, tire and wheel machines, an in-ground alignment machine, expansive parts and tire storage, and a full detail shop. The project is scheduled to wrap up in time for our 2022 season.
On February 11-15, 2022, MMC will host a limited number of members and guests for our fourth MMC Porsche Ice Experience in Quebec. Hosted by Porsche Canada, MMC will have exclusive use of Mecaglisse, an extraordinary driving facility located an hour northwest of Montreal that features miles of ice circuits and skid pads. Porsche custom designed two programs exclusively for MMC: an advanced program (3 full days of driving) for members who currently run in MMC Blue/Black/Red run groups OR who attended prior Porsche ice-driving programs, and an introductory program (3 half-days of driving) for MMC members and guest who have less on-track experience (no prior track experience is required — just a driver’s license.) Also exclusive to MMC: night-time lapping and a special evening team competition! As this MMC trip is a private club event, guests are limited to spouses and significant others. One quick encounter with Elliot and I quickly noticed that aside from being a fast and strategic racer, he is someone with deep knowledge and passion for the automobile industry, even off the track. He happily engages with fellow members and racers making him a pleasure to race against.
What is your favorite part about racing?
My favorite part about racing is being in the car and feeling every little bump and turn on the racetrack. I also love the competition that comes along with racing. I have an overall love for cars. I also build cars outside of racing. From a young age I started restoring cars such as late 60’s muscle cars and a lot of other different vehicles.
How long have you been racing?
I have been racing for about 2 ½ years, but I have been into cars in general and fixing them up for about 6 years. I have been racing at a lot of other tracks as well. I’m a SCCA licensed driver so I compete in the Spec Miata series. I have also done a lot of auto cross. My favorite track would probably be MMC since everyone is always so friendly.
What is it like balancing work and school?
Sometimes balancing work and school can be difficult, especially with races during the week, but I try to manage. Especially this year with school being virtual, I could take classes at the track which was very helpful.
Describe yourself in three words.
Determined, fun, and ambitious.
Do you participate in any other sports?
I am actually a tennis coach. In addition to playing tennis, I played varsity football in high school.
What is your favorite/dream car?
My favorite/dream car is probably some model of a Porsche. Possibly a GT3.
Favorite turn on track?
I really like the carousel; it is a lot of fun. Although it took me a while to master it, once I got it, it was a very fun corner for me.
Biggest pet-peeve?
On track my biggest pet-peeve would be when I am behind a slower car and they refuse to let me by.
Are there any life lessons you learned on-track which apply to off-track?
On track a life lesson I learned is to ease into things. I remember my first time at Lime Rock. I said to myself “I got this” and then I went full speed into the first corner of the track, and I totally spun out and went into the grass. After that, I learned to always take it easy when trying something new.
What is your favorite part/activity on a member day that is not driving?
I love socializing and talking to people. I love asking what they do, how they became race car drivers, how they fund themselves and figuring out their story.
What do you think makes you a good racer?
Something that makes me a good racer is my determination. Also, just my passion for cars and putting in the time to become better at it.
