The weather was perfect for day 1 of the Performance Driving MMC Teen Race Camp. We headed to Middletown to the Ring Homestead Camp for some leadership and communication exercises and used these skills to navigate the ropes course in two separate groups. The group did well!
We arrived back at MMC Club House around 4:15 ready from Derek to fit all those campers who needed a Helmet, Hans, and Race Suit. Shortly after the group ate their dinner, Barbeque was the dinner theme, with Ice Cream for dessert. Some campers decided to have dessert before dinner!
The campers received their swags bags(computer bag, large beach towel, hat, journal, patch, and a couple race made and MMC logo stickers) , met the Instructor Assistants, and touched base with our lead instructors Bryan and Stuart. We made our way to The Kartrite hotel, checked into our rooms, and spent some time playing spike ball. The group visited the arcade with their arcade passes and finished up their night visiting rooms until 10:00 pm when everyone needed to head to their own room for the evening.
Day 2 will be a full day of driving!

Enjoy your day and be well.

Our Performance Driving campers spent the morning up at the Karting track racing both forward and reverse track focusing on overtaking drills. In the afternoon, the group split into two groups, one spent time at the Skid Pad doing auto X in the Subaru WRX’s and the other group spent time on the North Course in the BMW 340i’s with right seat instruction. Halfway through their afternoon both groups switched. It was a full day of driving.
The group headed back to the hotel to shower and then off to dinner at Solaia. All were hungry and enjoyed their meals with entrée choices of Shell stake, Penne Ala Vodka or Chicken Parmigiana. An assortment of desserts finished the meal. After dinner, the group headed back to the hotel for some spike ball, football toss, laser tag and some arcade time. All headed to their rooms at 10:00 pm to close out the night.
The group has another full day with different driving experiences ahead of them.

Have a great day!

Today the campers spent their day over at the off-road track. The morning was spent in the Subaru WRX’s doing Slalom and Scandinavian flick drills. After lunch it was back to the off-road track to get fitted for the Cross Kart and learn sequential gearbox. Once they were comfortable in the Cross Kart, Slalom and Scandinavian Flick drills were done. The team finished up their off-road track day with a Cross Kart Auto X.
Everyone went back to the clubhouse for some quick refreshments and a little soft serve ice cream before heading back to the hotel to shower and get ready for dinner at El Sombrero in Rock Hill. Stuart Bryan, Trent, Josh, and Jason joined the campers for dinner which was a pleasant addition to the night. Everyone ate well and had a great time.
Their evening was low key with the group watching and playing FIFA Xbox for about an hour before they headed to their rooms for the night.

The campers had a day full of driving a variety of vehicles. The morning was spent rotating their time between Auto X in the Subaru WRX”s on the Skid Pad and Lead Follow on the North Course in the M3401’s. The afternoon rotation was Skid Pad races with the Go Karts and lead follow on the North Course in the PDK Racecars.
We had an early dinner at the clubhouse and headed back to the hotel to take advantage of the waterpark for a good hour before it closed for the evening. The rest of the night was spent at the Fire Pit making smores and participating in soccer, Spike ball or Wiffle Ball.
Everyone retired to the X-box room to play the last round of FIFA. 10:00 pm everyone headed to their rooms in preparation for their last day that will be jam packed with competition driving, which they are all excited about!
We look forward to seeing everyone today at 4:15 pm at the Clubhouse for our awards and closing ceremony.
