The group had a successful day at the Ring Homestead Camp. The group started with a few leadership and communication exercises with each camper taking a leader role guiding the group through the assigned tasks. The communication skills they learned in these exercises were then applied when moving the group through the main ropes course, the higher ropes course, and the large ladder. By the end of our time all campers had improved tremendously with their communication skills, leading a group, and celebrating the group’s success.
We retuned to the Monticello Motor Club campus at 4:30 to have Derek, our Chief Instructor, fit the campers in their helmets and racing suits. Dinner was served in the Club House dining room; Barbeque was the food theme for the evening. Our lead instructors and Instructor Assistants introduced themselves to the group, provided a little more information about tomorrow and got to know the campers during dinner. After dinner, the group headed to the Kartrite to get settled for the evening. Some campers worked out in the fitness room and others played X-box in our group room. It was a low-key evening with campers all in their rooms by 10:00 pm in preparation for a busy day two.

Have a great day!

The rain held off and we were able to get in a full day of camp, we were all thrilled!
The campers spent their day up at the karting track working on the fundamentals of the racing line, did some exercises on kart control and counter steer with drifting karts. A big focus in the afternoon was passing and leaving racing room during the kart races.
The group ate dinner at Solaia in Monticello. Only a mile away from the track. The food was great, a choice of Caesar or mixed salad, main entrée of Steak, Chicken Parmigiana or Penne A La Vodka and a dessert tray. Everyone ate well. We spent time at the arcade in the hotel and finished up in our core room playing FIFA X-Box. Tomorrow with be another busy day and all were tired so 10:00 pm was not too early for everyone to head to their rooms for a solid night of sleep.

We were unable to dodge the rain today, but the campers had a great day driving during wet conditions. The group drove the Subaru WRX in an autocross exercise to introduce them to driving a car and getting an understanding of size and placement around the course. Then they did some drifting and the rat race with the BMW 340i on the wet skid pad to work on feeling weight transfer and controlling slides by balancing power and steering. To close out the day, the group did a session on the north course in the Subaru WRX to introduce them to the racetrack and start to work on the basics of car placement, braking, and steering required for performance driving. They had a full day!
The day ended about 4:30 and we headed over to the hotel to get ready for dinner out at El Sombrero in Rock Hill. Many Shirley temples were drunk, and full plates of Mexican food were enjoyed. We even snuck in a birthday surprise for Ross. No, it was not his birthday, but the group wanted to celebrate it early.
The group headed back to the hotel for a game of Lazer tag and to finish out the night with a few X-box games before heading to their rooms at 10:00 pm. Tomorrow is another busy day on the track, and it looks like it will be a dry one.

Day 4 for our Teen Campers was spent at our off-road track in the morning and afternoon. Today’s focus was safe handling of the Subaru WRX on off road conditions. The team found this to be very different than on the track and skid pad. Once the campers become more confident with their off-road car handling skills, Bryan and Stuart timed their off-road course runs. All campers received their driving profiles at the end of their day and reviewed.
Dinner was at the Clubhouse today and it was Italian night. The campers ate well and headed back to the hotel to catch a full hour at the Waterpark. After a quick shower we all headed to the fire pits to listen to music and make smores. Football toss and some soccer rounded out the evening until it got dark. A couple campers have some school tasks to attend to for a little while and a few other campers headed to the group room to play X-box. They all had a busy day so the 10:00 pm curfew to their rooms to wind down was not an issue.
Tomorrow will be a busy day with campers utilizing all the skills they have learned for the past three days and working together in teams.
We look forward to seeing you at 4:15 for our Teen Race Camp closing ceremony in the Club House classroom and lounge area.
Have a fantastic morning and safe travels to you!

It’s hard to believe Day 5 arrived so quickly, the time flew by so fast. The campers, chaperones and the Teen Race Camp staff had a great time! The days at the track , dinners, and time spent at the hotel went well. There was never a dull moment, and your campers were a pleasure to get to know.
The last day of camp was centered around the Race of Champions which utilized all the skills they learned and applied them to the events they did at off-road, skid pad and the karting track.
