Are these programs open to beginners?

Yes. Anyone with a valid driver’s license can participate in most of our driving programs. A member of our Experience Team can help you select the experience that best matches your driving experience level. Our instructors work with drivers of all skill and confidence levels to make sure that you get the most from your day with us in safest way possible.

What happens if it rains?

Our events run rain or shine. Wet weather actually adds to the experience, and can be even more fun. If the weather is persistent and does not allow for safe operation, we will give you the option to reschedule to a later date.

How is safety addressed?

Monticello Motor Club strives to be one of the safest race tracks in the world. We offer generous runoff areas and the latest in safety systems. Our staff of track professionals is dedicated to helping guests have an enjoyable, exciting, and – most importantly – safe visit every time they are on the track. Track safety personnel on site monitor operations and professional driving instructors are with guests providing direction at all times.

What are the driver requirements?

Driver requirements vary depending on the program for which you sign up. Events featuring MX-5s or Miatas require prior experience driving a manual transmission. Events featuring BMW M2s do not require any experience driving a manual transmission.

What about insurance?

Each driver is responsible for his or her actions while on the race track. Prior to entering the facility, each person is required to sign a liability waiver, as well as purchase rental insurance. Rental insurance is included with all of our experiences (excluding private instruction), with your personal vehicle.

Do I need a helmet?

We will provide helmets for the track portion of any MMC experience at no additional charge. You may also bring your own Snell 2005 or newer helmet.

Is there a dress code?

Feel free to wear comfortable and casual clothing. Long pants are required and long sleeve shirts are preferred. No sandals, please. For chillier days, dress in layers that you can easily exchange throughout the day. Avoid clothing that is bulky or restrictive. Shoes should have soft rubber soles with laces and no heel. Bulky or heavy shoes should also be avoided.

Are non-driving guests allowed?

Of course! For the younger guests, consider adding on a Taste of the Karting Track experience, ideal for the kids six years and older. For non-driving guests, there is a fee of $150 for each who accompanies the driving guest. No more than three non-driving guests are permitted. Guests are treated to breakfast and/or lunch, attendance to all non-driving activities, such as classroom, tours, and track viewing discussions, and hot laps.

What is the weather like in Monticello?

In the spring and autumn months, the weather in Monticello can be as much as 10 degrees cooler than in New York City; otherwise, it is much the same. Check the forecast the evening before your program. Keep in mind that you will be outside for parts of the day so be prepared for a full day of exposure to the elements by ensuring that you layer your clothes as the temperature changes during the day.

Can I cancel an event?

If you need to cancel an experience, doing so with at least 60 days’ notice will result in a full refund. Canceling between 30 and 59 days before your experience will result in a 50% refund. Experiences canceled with fewer than 30 days’ notice are not eligible for a refund. MMC members will receive a full refund, regardless of the time of cancelation, if we are able to fill the seat with a paying driver. Can I apply this experience towards my membership purchase?

All amounts paid for the event day may be applied towards any membership if purchased within 30 days of the experience.
