Good morning! Hard to believe the campers last day of Teen Race Camp has past! The campers all did a great job and improved tremendously over the past 4 1/2 days. Their car control skills in the MINIs and go karts in wet and dry road conditions had greatly improved and all are capable of driving a manual shift Miata around the north course with confidence. In addition, their driving skills and control were tested in the Cross Karts on the off-road course.
Stuart and Bryan kept everyone busy, the campers were introduced to our Cross Karts over at the off-road course – dirtier but a lot of fun on the off road terrain and autocross on the skip pad with the MINI’s for timed sessions. After lunch all headed to the karting track for a Kart Enduro with 4 teams. Water balloons and water guns were used by the instructors to add some excitement to the event. A great way to cool off on a warm day.
At the end of the day campers met with their parents in the dining room for our Teen Race Camp closing ceremony where Stuart and Bryan presented the
campers their completion certificates and awards earned during the days competitions and throughout the camp experience.

Good evening. It was a great day for our campers at Monticello Motor Club with a lot of action going on throughout the day.
In the morning campers had fun with timed autocross competitions in MINIs. They also enjoyed driving our North Course in a lead follow format.
In the afternoon, the campers worked on their manual driving skills in Miata Race Cars. All were in race suits, helmets, and HANs. In the beginning no one was able to shift and by the end of the afternoon all were driving with smoother and faster gear shifts. Campers also continued to work on car control on our Skid Pad.

The weather has been warm here in Monticello and the campers were able to cool off while at the Skid Pad with our water sprinkler and water guns which we used in the drills. Kart control was the focus starting with dry track conditions then to wet. All were hesitant in the beginning but excelled and started to look forward to the wet conditions! A number of our campers drove by themselves in the MINIs on the track. Each day the campers are getting more experience behind the wheel and gaining greater confidence in their abilities. We celebrated Massimo’s, our CIT, 16th birthday at the end of the day with cupcakes and cake.
Their evening at the Kartrite will include the Waterpark, Arcade, bowling and laser tag and a group dinner at Harvey Wallbanger’s located in the hotel.

It was a full Monday for the Teen Race Campers! The day was split up between Karting and Lead follow on the North Course track with the Mini’s.
Campers drove the SODI 9 horse power karts. The group started with lead follow and transitioned into open lapping sessions. Passing drills and breaking exercises were done in preparation for their 45 minute endurance race. There was impressive clean racing with only one penalty!
Out on the North Course with the Mini’s our campers started out hesitant and with more time became very comfortable and started to push themselves safely!
The campers headed back to the Kartrite hotel to cool off at the water park , have dinner and then top off the night with Laser tag!
They all had a jam packed day and are looking forward to tomorrow.

Welcome to our CIT’s Bridjet Duffy and Massimo Risi who will be assisting our Lead Instructors and our Teen Race campers;
Alfred DiScipio, Ashlee Pathoumphanh, Carter Daily, Cedrik Bonnemazou, Jack Tabery, Jacob Gilmer, Jim Glass, John Guillemot, Justin Daily, Kinsley West, Lincoln Day, Maxwell Britton, Molly Baker, Rehan Padia, Shirley Lin and Taylor Naclerio. It was nice finally getting to meet many of the parents that I have gotten to know through emails and phone calls in preparation for the first day of camp.
The campers were fitted for Helmets, Race Suits and Vehicles so they will be able to hit the ground running Monday morning. Once all the campers loaded their suit cases in our hotel shuttle vehicles they were given a golf cart tour of the Monticello Motor Club by our pro instructors. The campers enjoyed a Taco Bar Dinner at the Club House Dinning room with soft service ice cream and chocolate chip cookies for dessert. After dinner we made our way back up to the gallery where we had a fire pit where the campers spent time getting to know one another. All the boy campers kept themselves busy playing corn hole and throwing the bean bags about. Sparklers, bubbles and making smores rounded out an early evening.
The group headed over to the Kartrite Hotel in 4 shuttle vehicles with music playing and campers singing. Campers were given their room assignments and got settled quickly. Once settled they all headed out with the CIT’s and chaperones to check out the arcade located in the hotel for a bit before heading to their rooms for the first nights 9:00 pm. Curfew.
Tomorrow is a busy day at the Karting Track and Lead Follow on the North Course.
Have a good night and be on the lookout for tomorrow nights recap of your campers first full day at the Monticello Motor Club Track.
